DEF LEGACY PROGRAM

Duncanville Reads

"Duncanville Reads" is a program where authors and illustrators visit the district’s campuses and share their knowledge of literature. They also share the creative process behind writing and illustrating a book. As part of the district’s commitment to literacy starting in early childhood, "Duncanville Reads" provides students with firsthand experience detailing how books, stories and illustrations are created. Many of the authors and illustrators encouraged the young students to start writing books now, having written books themselves in elementary.

 

The "Duncanville Reads" program continues to grow thanks to sponsors Dr. Michael Miner and Dalton Lott, and the community partnership with the Duncanville ISD Education Foundation.
